There are several classes that race under the sanction of the TTPBA. There is a SPEC Class and there are speed classes,  starting with the 60 mph class up to the highest 130mph class. The SPEC Class boats are all identical, 25ft locally manufactured Bowen hulls powered by a single 200HP Yamaha. This class in not subject to any speed limitation. Whereas in the speed classes, each boat may vary in size, hull, and power/propulsion. In each speed bracket, the boats are not allowed to cross the maximum speed of the respective class. Speed is measured by a GPS unit on board each boat and if class speeds are exceeded, that boat is either penalized or disqualified depending on the race, or number of infractions for the day.
